Measure your horse in 4-stepcs. To measure a horse for a blanket, you will need a soft measuring tape and someone to help you. Here are the steps to follow:
-
Stand your horse on level ground and make sure that they are standing squarely with their head up and their neck straight.
-
Start by measuring the length of your horse from the center of their chest to the point of their rump, where the tail begins. This is the length of the blanket that you will need.
-
Next, measure the distance from the center of your horse's chest to their withers (the highest point of their shoulder blades). This measurement will determine the size of the neck opening that you will need on the blanket.
-
Finally, measure the distance from the center of your horse's chest to their tail along the side of their body. This measurement will determine the size of the drop that you will need on the blanket.
When choosing a blanket, be sure to select one that corresponds to the measurements you have taken. It's better to choose a blanket that is slightly too big than too small, as a tight-fitting blanket can cause discomfort and restrict your horse's movement.
